Canton, Ohio - The Canton Museum of Art is gearing up for their Ferdinand Brader exhibit, scheduled for display December 4, 2014 through March 15, 2015.  The exhibit will be a retrospective of Brader's work in America and will include examples from Pennsylvania and Ohio.  In preparation for this historic event, KIKO Real Estate and Auctioneers is proud to co-sponsor an upcoming open house where the public can bring their own Ferdinand Brader drawing to be photographed and cataloged by the Museum.  A professional art photographer will be in attendance to photograph the drawings, these photos will then be featured in an upcoming book showcasing Brader’s work.  Join KIKO’s own antiques expert Bill Gill, the host for the evening, to learn more about this intriguing artist and the legacy he has left behind.  KIKO, in collaboration with the Canton Museum of Art, is committed to locating and preserving these American treasures.  We need your help in identifying these drawings in order to trace Brader's artistic path throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio.  The event takes place at the KIKO office, 2722 Fulton Dr. NW, Canton Ohio on Saturday, January 11, 2014, from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
Ferdinand Brader is well known for his large detailed pencil drawings of farms and other dwellings in rural Pennsylvania and Ohio.  With meticulous care, Ferdinand Brader identified the owners and township of each property he visited and typically inscribed his works with the name of the property’s owner, the date, and in many cases, its number in the chronology of his completed works. Research is underway to catalog these drawings, as more examples of his work become known.  So far there are 194 identified drawings, but experts believe that only a fraction of the estimated 980 total landscape portraits have been cataloged.  Most of these drawings are quite large, some measuring as much as 30” x 53”, with the vast majority of them being done using graphite pencil.
